Altensteinia virescens

The Cranichideae tribe is part of the family Orchidaceae, subfamily Orchidoideae.

Description:

Cranichideae is characterized by an inflorescence with small tubular flowers that never fully open. The flower has a short and robust gynostemium with erected stamen.

Origin:

Cranichideae grow mainly in tropical and subtropical regions, rarely in temperate regions in Europe, North America and South America, Asia and Australia.

Sub-tribes:

The tribe includes six sub-tribes containing about 90 genera and 600 species.
